SALVATION ARMY SHELTER
Christmas Gift Lists
All the women's requested gifts are now available on Amazon gift lists!
These registry gift lists allow you to make purchases online through Amazon and ship directly to my parent's address, where all the wrapping and sorting takes place.
I decided to try to this differently this year; bear with me as I work through the new process that I hope creates an easier and more effective gift donation program. I chose the items based on the lists I was provided. If you find a gift on the requested items elsewhere, or purchase a different version, please let me know right away so I can mark it as purchased from the gift list to avoid duplicates. All I ask is that if an item was specifically listed with a brand name or product line, that you purchase an item as close to the description as possible.
Gifts will need to be purchased and delivered by December 20th this year in order to be wrapped by December 21st.
I would like to share that in all the years I have been working with the Salvation Army shelter on 7th Street, this is the first time I have seen the same six names 3 years in a row. These women have experienced homelessness and all have some type of disability that has landed them in the shelter- typically the occupants are there until they can secure housing and that is often the reason the gift lists we get are so pragmatic every year.
You will recognize the names on this list as women you have purchased gifts for over the past several years, and you will see that although there are still items that should not have to be asked for as gifts- distilled water for a CPAP machine, toilet paper, laundry detergent, towels- there are also now personal gifts that are being asked for. That are items that we all have as everyday luxuries but also that give us insight into the people that these women are, and the interests that they have.
It is touching to me to read these lists, procure them, share them, and see them become a reality for these women because of all of you. I'm looking forward to creating another successful holiday season for these women who deserve to feel excited and loved.THANK YOU! ♥️
XOXO Amanda
